 For city farms in Yorkshire,   Heeley City Farm is in Sheffield. It is an environmental visitor centre offering a schools education programme and holiday activities. On site is rare breed animals, garden centre, vegetarian cafe plus the S Yorkshire Energy Advice Centre. Meanwood Valley Uban Farm is in Leeds. The new 'epicentre' provides an interactive arena for learning more about environmental issues. The farm’s education team helps thousands of school children to experience the natural environment through practical hands-on projects. From pond dipping to mini-beast hunts, there is plenty to do at Meanwood.

Wind Farms - In late 2006 there were 135 wind farms in operation in the United Kingdom, comprising over 1700 turbines with a total capacity of over 1900 megawatts.  This is enough to power over a million homes and save over four million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. You are likely to have to contact the wind farm prior to your visit.

The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. Offers "eco-cabin" residential educational experience to schools; the largest visitor centre for sustainable development and alternative energy in the UK; organic food grown on site for the cafe, a specialist bookshop and more. Forest schools encourage an appreciation of the natural world and build self-esteem and confidence. This is achieved through regular visits to special woodland sites. Individuals can master tasks of increasing complexity and learn the associated social skills. The new Forest Schools website is building a map of local providers.

The Global Outdoors website contains a database of contacts and case studies for those who wish to educate for a fairer and more sustainable world, using visits to the "outdoor classroom".
